Rick Robinson from Motorsports Engineering will be in charge of tech at the VFN events. You had better conform to what little rules there are or you won't be racing.

Well I will throw the question out to Rick. Everyone has seen my car is there anything I would have to do to it to race? I think Keen should have to move his drivers seat up 24 inches to be legal setting in the trunk is a unfair advantage ;D ;D.

Hi Bill. I can't really answer that at this point. 1) I don't recall too many details about the car other than the chassis ( cause I always check out the competition) and the Turbo/carb set-up ( cause it's a monster ) and 2.) Mike and I need to sit down and discuss it a little more. Originally we were thinking if we kept the rules strictly enforced we'd weed out all of those pro-mods everyone keeps saying will come. Haven't seen a pro-mod with carpet/stock appearing dash and interior/working lights in the correct location and original shaped body panels..not strecthed out to fit a longer wheel base...not saying there aren't any..but if a guys got them he's not racing competitively in pro mod. But I think that with a min weight, we need to discuss it a little further..to decide before hand what we would "like" to see vs. what we will not allow to run. Anything that you think won't fit ....feel free to contact me at Robinsonracecars@aol.com

Stark I would like to know why the rules in true are so loose, There is no weight limit also it appears you can run a sheet-metal intake an as much fiber-glass as you can bolt on. why did it take so long to show the new rules. Would it be because of your car to make it fit, it sure looks that way. I also notice minor knotching of the rear frame rail, does that mean 1in or 2in cut out or does that mean notch all the way to inner frame rail like in the pictures of your car at the party. I do not want the rules built around my car but, it descent need to be built around your car. In the tires can you run any tire as long as it is with in sizes you set up redial et or 10.5. you need to have a weight limit of 3000lbs to 3200lbs Also their does not need to be no sheet-metal intake. I hope you think about this a little bit. I also notice the entry fee is their a min car count for 5000.00 pay out. I think you are heading in the right direction with this deal. that is it foe me fair well my friend later.

Jimmy, which class are you asking about the rules in? Most of the concern has been from the phreak street guys. That class, as far as I know has never had a limit on tire size or "frame notching" as they have always allowed backhalf cars, now it appears they are gonna let the tube's in too. I saw the pic's of the car your talking about, that thing is gonna be a true street killer(in prob 2 years) AFAIK, Mike is planning on running a single turbo deal on the Dart this year in True Street. Even if they make a 3000lb min. Phreak is still gonna be a 4.70-4.90 class this year. I know my place in the food chain, FUN STREET, that is where I like it rules are simple.....do whatever it takes to make your ride go 6.50 consistently oh and have stock appearing body and interior.

If you look at the True street rules, there is no weight limit and it has rules against major notching of the rear frame rails. I would personally like to see a mimimum weight of 3100 or so, but that is just me. I will be there regardless. I just want to race. If you ask me, "True Street" has gotten way out of hand in all the organizations. Ladder bars, mini tubs, coil overs are not "true street" in my book. Hell, I say stock suspension, 28 x 10.5 max tire, and factory interior. Oh, and we have to have a 10 mile drive without blowing up!!! Next thing you know, True Street will be 4 links, wheelie bars and aluminum interior. Oh well there's my rant. I'll see you on June 10th for a shot at the big bucks!!

There is a real simple reason for no min weight in True Street....not enough time in the day. Terre Haute doesn't have scales to drive across..so we are already putting ourselves through hell to weigh in the Phreak cars with regular scales. Now try to add 20-30?? true street cars at minimum 10 minutes each and you've got a problem.....no racing just line em up at the scales. If someone has a set of scales and would like to spend their day working with us to scale true street cars...I'm sure you can get the same great pay and benifit package that Mike's offered me ( free entry ). ;D And we could probably get Mike to set a min weight. I really think that the tires and no wheelie bars are gonna establish the times. There may be a really purpose built car out there waiting to pounce...but that'll happen no mater what rules are in place. There are limited street cars running 4.90's all day long at #3100 and did anybody happen to see what radial cars have been running ? 7.50's.....
Just keep in mind...that it's hardly ever the number one qualifier that wins...that's why it's racing

Rick is right. Min. weights and too many rules will actually make it faster than you think. Right now there are competitive Drag radial cars running 4.90's to 5 flat in the 1/8 100% legal for any True Street. This is at 3400 to 3500 lbs with stock suspension and RADIAL tires. This year is more about a big show and lot's of fun than trying to be just like everybody else. I'm not trying to kill the guys who have always run with it. The rules are not built around my Malibu either. It won't even be done this year. I'll be racing a 3400 lbs Dart with untouched frame rails and bolt-on leaf spring suspension junk.
Just because there are no limits doesn't mean that a hitter will show. You are still gonna see 90% the regular guys show. They all run 5.30's anyway. There might be a 4.99 in True, but there probably won't be. If the Turbo is on the Dart I'm damn sure gonna try. It will also be 100% legal for OSCA, Ohio Valley, Edgwater, whatever True Street not just mine.
